WATERFOWL

Located along the Central and Mississippi flyways, Manitoba stands in the heart of the migrating masses. The Interlake region of the province is where the agriculture begins and is the very first stop for migrating ducks and geese.
Our hunts are typically done over harvested barely, wheat, pea, bean and corn fields. We use A frame panel blinds for all of our hunts with comfy seats for all of our guests. We like to call it the “gentleman’s hunt” We hunt over thousands of acres of private land that have been pre scouted days in advance. Our guides literally work around the clock sometimes putting on hundreds of miles in a single day scouting to ensure we are always on the “X”.
A normal day with us would start with a quick snack and coffee at the lodge before heading out for the morning hunt. Breakfast sandwiches are made and taken along into the blind as well as thermoses of coffee for the morning hunting blind breakfast. Our guides set up a nice spread of decoys (10 dozen or so) as well as a few mojos for those early morning mallards. After the morning hunt you’ll head back and get cleaned up for a lunch that will be sure to put you asleep. After a little siesta it’s time to get up and get ready for the afternoon duck or grouse hunt.
We hunt mostly dry fields for mallards, pintails and the odd widgeon. We use the same blinds as we do for geese and the set up is generally the same with the difference being duck decoys instead of goose. We normally run 10 or so dozen full body mallard decoys with anywhere from 4-6 field mojos. After your hunt we all head back to the lodge for nice hot meal and some R&R so we can be fully refreshed to do it all over again the following morning.
Our waterfowl hunts are fully guided and I cannot say enough about our guides, “Big Dan” Willoughby is our head guide and one of the best callers I’ve ever heard. You can ask any one of our many repeat clients and they’ll all say the same “Dan is the man” and there’s no doubt about that. Dan, Brandon, Evan and Dave will work as hard as humanly possible to make sure we put you on the birds every single time. Obviously in the end it’s Mother Nature that has the final say but we’ve been very fortunate to have a good relationship with her over the years.
